John Merlette grew up in Fair Haven, New Jersey. After graduation from Grove City College in 1968 with degrees in mechanical and metallurgical engineering, John began a career designing and fabricating advanced composite structures using carbon fiber-reinforced materials.

To his credit, Mr. Merlette was the first to design a 'graphite' golf club shaft and to patent a 'graphite' bicycle wheel. He also designed and fabricated advanced composite satellite and other aerospace components for NASA and the DOD. Every modern Boeing commercial aircraft flying today utilizes advanced composite parts designed by John Merlette.

In 1983, he started his own business and with his two partners, supplied the Orthotic and Prosthetic industry with thousands of advanced composite 'Springlite' devices that aid victims of leg amputations and foot injuries. It was only after his retirement, that Mr. Merlette decided to delve into writing fiction. The 'Time and Space' trilogy is the culmination of this latest endeavor.

John, and his wife 'Red', currently reside in Bigfork, Montana in a home they designed themselves. Both continue to ski, fish, hike and entertain grandkids at 'Camp RedJohn'.
